OUR FOUNDER
The founder of Magical Hudson Valley Tours is Cynthia DelConte. A s a long time resident of the region she has had a varied and busy photo career. Cynthia was privileged to see many off the beaten path, hidden gems. Along with a background as a sous chef in NYC, and a lover of all things food and wine, she is ready to take you to the best known farm to table venues, and many eateries that are truly local secrets.
Cynthia has photographed events at almost every historical estate in the region and she can tell you which are fabulous and those you might skip.
Cynthia started her travels as a 19 year old, traveling through Europe with a backpack, rail pass and the book “Europe on five dollars a day” . Learning the wonders of back roads, and hardly traveled places, she learned that travel is so much more than tourist destinations.
Later, living in Santa Fe New Mexico, the wonders of nature became very important in her itinerary. At the same time exploring the native cultures was so very important in understanding the Southwest. The same can be said for the Hudson Valley. Diving deep, Cynthia takes you not only to our fabulous Vineyards, Distilleries and Breweries, but also to the amazing art, sculpture gardens, and architecture that this region has to offer. From Carriage houses to converted factories that now house artists and crafts people, the area is rich with cultural jewels.
Living in the varied, beautiful, Hudson Valley is both a joy and a privilege. The area is filled with natural beauty, urban cultural institutions, music ( think Big Pink, Woodstock, Bonnie Rait)…Art, Education, and even theatre. Topping all that off with the Culinary Institute of America headquarters being based in the center of the valley, bringing cuisine to the area from around the world.
Cynthia is not only someone who can arrange a tour, but as a guide she knows many inside stories to share.
We employ wonderful Hiking guides, kayaking teachers, Yoga instructors. Our founder is available to document your day with beautiful, evocative photographs. We go to the best Vineyards, visit the greatest estate tours with docents that weave stories to captivate you. We provide meals by a local, beloved chef for on location picnics and we dine at the best farm to table restaurants, as well as pop up food trucks and road side stands ,that offer unique fare.
